Rhapsody for Cancer 2022

Saturday 18th June 2022 - Tiller Farm, Yallingup

Rhapsody for Cancer and The Pirate Ship Foundation invite you to be part of a special fundraising and awareness event, to advance discovery in childhood brain cancer research.

Rhapsody for Cancer is a group of South West businesses, led by Brash Road Vineyard and Tiller Dining, who together with Lux Events, have combined to initiate this exclusive event to be held at the beautiful Tiller Farm venue in Yallingup.

Rhapsody for Cancer is an exclusive dinner and dance, that will provide a culinary experience to remember, for 120 very lucky people, who will be asked to dig deep on the night to support a very special cause! This incredible event will showcase the best the South West has to offer, with the menu and wine selected from our best; an exciting ‘special performance’ from the Philharmonic SW Orchestra, a stunning light feature created specifically for Rhapsody for Cancer from LuxEvents, and a night of entertainment from Mr & Mrs Smith (our SW French Jazz duo who have a repertoire of music and song to kick up your heels to).

Service and product providers have donated every component of the evening, therefore 100% of the funds raised, will go directly to childhood brain cancer research! This is truly remarkable!

Our aim is to make Rhapsody for Cancer the marquee fundraising event for the South West community, for years to come.

This evening is guaranteed to entertain you while raising money for much needed research.

What to expect

The Rhapsody for Cancer dining experience at Tiller Dining will be one to remember. A menu crafted especially by George and his team at Tiller. And a wonderful wine experience to match.

Wines have been donated from two of Yallingup Hills finest wineries – Forester Estate and Brash Road Vineyard. Situated in the northern end of the Margaret River wine region, the owners of both have a passion to produce wines that reflect the fruit grown in this area. Neither of these wineries have a cellar door, which makes this an amazing opportunity to taste the wines they will showcase tonight.

The king and queen of Margaret River wines – cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay – will be poured during dinner and matched to the wonderful menu from Tiller Dining. We will be aiming to present wines from each of these wonderful wineries in identical vintages so your taste sensations can enjoy a comparison of two well-aged and outstanding wines at each bracket.

Wines at dinner will be poured by a team of table-specific sommelier’s who will be there to ensure you always have a fresh drink and to provide all the information you need on the special wines available on the night. The sommeliers are all practising Margaret River winemakers keen to pass on their knowledge and experience.

Come party time we will introduce some surprises from both wineries to further add to your experience.

The food will be a culinary delight with wines to match and equally entertain your palates.

Background

The concept of Rhapsody for Cancer was developed by Anne Preston Carter, owner of Brash Road Vineyard, who in the past 12 months has watched helplessly as her seven-year-old grandson Kade has gone through the heart-wrenching journey of being diagnosed with a rare and complicated brain cancer – one of 12 children in the world.

Rhapsody for Cancer is her way of being able to say thank you to the researchers and their extraordinary team; and to the doctors and nurses at Perth Children’s Hospital who continue to look after Kade, and his family.

Anne has been embraced by every individual and company she has approached to create what will be an amazing event. Her goal is to raise in excess of $200,000!

We invite you to get involved in this exciting initiative, to help fund the amazing team who strive for a cure for this dreadful childhood disease.

Partners

Rhapsody for Cancer is grateful to the amazing founding partners of this event, all of whom jumped at the chance to donate their product and services for this worthy cause. This is genuinely a collaborative partnership of these amazing South West organisations.

Brash Road Vineyard

Welcome to Brash Road Vineyard – Margaret River’s best kept secret.

Known for many years within the industry as a grower of premium fruit, Brash Road Vineyard also makes small parcels of single vineyard wine that have found praise from wine critics Australia-wide, as well as achieving stunning results on the wine show circuit.

Situated high on the Naturaliste Ridge, our vineyard is surrounded by a towering jarrah/marri forest in grapevine heaven. Growing fruit that ends up in Margaret River’s finest labels, we especially nurture 10 percent of our grapes, which are handcrafted by Bruce Dukes to make a range of exceptional single vineyard wines. Our Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and more recently our new addition, the 2019 Syrah, have all received high acclaim and are quickly sold out after release.

Available direct from the vineyard or from select retail outlets Brash Road Vineyard wines are stunning samples of what makes Margaret River one of the finest wine growing regions in the world. Our story is in the glass.
